Don’t blame Obama for your hope!

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

I wrote this poem in an attempt to save Obama from the revenge of those who don’t take responsibility for their own hope.

DON’T BLAME OBAMA FOR YOUR HOPE!

Andy Vine Nov 2008

Because if you do, you’ll also blame him when you lose it again.

And he is not responsible for your hope anyway. You are.

The truth is hope is alive and well in all of us.

But hope is not about “the future”.

Hope is the gift of love and trust we give to each moment and situation.

Hope is the laughter that lets us forgive.

Hope is the tears that let us grieve and move on.

Hope is the light of creativity we shine on every new experience.

Hope is courage made manifest.

Hope is us waking up!

Obama is just a good wake up caller!

Letter from sailor in Tierra Del Fuego

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Recently I received this email from Keri Pashuk. I’ll let her tell the story. Needless to say I sent her the chords….

Here is I imagine an unusual request.  I am writing from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, where my husband and I live on our sailboat, Northanger.  We had the privilege of spending two winters tied up next to the Quidi Vidi brewing company just north of St.  John’s, Newfoundland.  It was there I first heard your song Woman of  Labrador as recorded by Figgy Duff.   I have been slowly (very  slowly) teaching myself guitar, and being so far away from home (Canada), I have taken to learning a number of Canadian songs that I love to hear and to sing.  It is only recent that we have access to a good internet connection and I have been looking for the chords to the Women of Labrador song so that I can sing and share this song.

While I was searching the internet for sheet music or chords, I found your site and listened to your original version of the song which is fantastic!

Would you consider emailing me the chords?  I  would so greatly appreciate it.  If there is any music I can find here in Argentina for you in exchange, please let me know.

All the Best,

Keri

P.S.  We sailed down the Labrador coast, arriving south from our winter over in Ellesmere Island, via Greenland, in 2000.  It is a beautiful and vast place.  One can feel and imagine the history,  passing by the abandoned communities, whaling stations and missions.   We plan on returning in a few years time.
